Note: Commissioner Marie Williams, LCSW, (615) 532-6500, Marie.Williams@tn.gov with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services https://www.tn.gov/behavioral-health.html is probably just one of the decision makers, that decided that a 1hr Narcan (Naloxone) training is necessary for anyone that wants to have a kit available, for themselves or other people, to help in case of an overdose. From talking to other Health Department officials, it seems to be an unnecessary burden for especially drug users to have to go through, if they want to save their own life, if they accidentally overdose. We sent an email to Ms. Williams with the request of reconsidering this rule about having to take a 1 hr training class. We urge all of you reading this (and of course to share with all your friends) to also send an email to her asking her to eliminate the need for anyone to take this class since the Narcan nasal spray is so easy to administer, without spending an hour to learn how to do it. Remember THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS! Thank you for your help!
